It is argued that more elderly people are competing with young people for the same jobs. Employers prefer to hire employees with many years of experience. However, this may cause problems such as an increased unemployment rate in the country, and it can be difficult for younger workers to survive in the job market. This problem can be solved by implementing regulations and giving opportunities to new college graduates.
On the one hand, it is expected that workers with a large amount of experience can complete tasks more easily than younger ones because they have already developed the necessary skills. Furthermore, they are familiar with the company’s policies and situations. However, this creates difficulties, as employees without any experience cannot enter the job market, and economic problems cannot be solved. For example, in the Netherlands, managers tend to hire staff from older age groups, which has led to a rise in the number of unemployed people, making the country rank fifth globally in terms of unemployment.
On the other hand, older workers have the ability to complete tasks given by their bosses and may possess important skills like communication and leadership. However, opportunities could be given to younger workers. For instance, lowering the pension age and providing monthly financial support would reduce the need for older people to continue working. To make it easier for younger workers to gain experience, managers could organize teamwork between younger and older workers. In addition, younger workers have more energy and a fresh perspective, which can be important for leadership roles.
To conclude, I believe it would be better to provide more opportunities for younger workers than older ones. To address issues of budget and free time, governments can take action by supporting pensioners, which would reduce unemployment and help younger workers gain experience.
