There is a higher number of families who pursue a tendency to give birth late in their lives. This phenomenon has its own pros and cons. While there are some benefits for people deciding to have kids late, I believe the drawbacks from this trend should be considered before making such decisions.
On the one hand, a plethora of married couples tend to have kids late because they want to stabilize the financial and job to upbringing their offspring in the best way. It is because bringing children up not only demands a lot of money and time, but this is also a physically challenging activity when parenting. For instance, there is a growing number of late adolescents in Vietnam who choose to follow higher education over having their first newborn because they want to solely concentrate on their career ladder and support their parents and siblings before determining to give birth.
On the other hand, since giving birth at an advanced parental age can increase the risks of diseases, opting to have babies late results in tremendous health issues for both the mother and the children. These issues relate to many distinct types of syndromes, such as Down syndrome or mental retardation; moreover, cardiovascular, immune, or cognitive systems can also be badly affected by this. To illustrate this, recent studies and research have shown that in many developed countries, like the USA, the UK, or France, mothers who decide to give birth late confront a higher potential risk of premature birth or miscarriage than others who have a first child at a younger age.
In conclusion, there are some arguments that whether giving birth later or earlier is better than the other. I am inclined to believe the drawbacks that considering having offspring late can increase a higher chance of diseases to either parents or children, and late adolescents should determine more time to think when making such an important decision.
