In modern world people tend to migrate all over the world and this trend grows in popularity. Moreover, as there is a grown consensus that immigrants should immerse into new local lifestyle in order to join to society. From my perspective, that statement seems absolutely logical and such alterations are crucial in order to provide comfortable being for immigrants and avoid any cultural-based conflicts.
As a first point, process of integration into new society inevitably includes interaction with local communities. Thus, in order to advance at this point, foreigner may engage into local customs and life orders to achieve maximum mutual understanding. Such behaviour simplifies most of daily procedures, including job search, everyday communication, graduation and much more. For instance, significant amount of employers all over the world give preference to employees with with at least B1 language proficiency, ecpecially, in service sector. It is therefore evident that knowlege of local language and customs are highly significant for immigrants in order to enhance their own life quality.
Similarly, disrespecting and uncaring regard towards local culture and traditions may cause intercultural conflicts and misunderstandings. Unfortunately, such phenomenum is not rare and currently emerges widely. Moreover, similar incidents have been observed previously through the whole history of mankind. Another point worth noting is that the most popular reason of such occasions is common misunderstandings caused by differences in culture of neighbours. Hence, people, being newcomers in a country of another culture are obligated to learn local orders and communication style in order to minimize amount of any possible confilicts on the ground of differences in cultures. As an example, severe contrast between sharia law, which determines lifestile of Aкabian countries and the ideas of freedom and democracy peculiar to European states, may be considered. Since homogenization of different counties all over the world seems to be nearly imposible, particularly in the foreseeable future, immersion into domestic culture and compliance with the local rules are crucial in order to keep worldwide peace and mutual understandings.
Generally, it can be said that none of the understanding and co-living is possible with no mutual respect towards one-abother’s cultures. Furthermore, such thoughtless regard and underestimating regional culture will inevitably either trigger intercultural arguments or cause inconvenience to immigrants. Since that, I surely agree, that foreigners should not stick to their old ways but adapt to new ones as they migrate instead.
