Band 5+: Nowadays more tasks at home and work are being performed by robots. Is this a negative or positive development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In today’s developing world mostly works are doing by robots such as house chores as well as tasks in workplace. However, I feel that this change has had a completely positive impact on people’s lives for two main causes.

Firstly, robots allow production to be more productive now than in the past. Robots can perform tasks that are too dangerous and repetitive for humans. For instance, in chemical companies where workers should test hazardous substances which is has negative impact on their health. Robots can be programmed to handle these type of materials for maintaining safety norms. Moreover, they can perform some repetitive jobs that people find too tedious. Robots can easily do repetitive task with high quality and consistency. As a result, it leads to increase productivity and decrease errors doing by humans.

Secondly, these machines play a great role for old people who are need an aid for their daily activities. Robots care systems are designed for various aspects of elders’ lives, such as in completing some tasks which people find complex, to make companionship and reduce the loneliness. In consequence, old people can live more independent in their own homes, despite the problems on health. So robots provide elderly people with feeling more confident and having a happier live with their support.

To sum up, not only has the effect robots in productivity of tasks, but it has also allowed those living on their own to have companionship for daily life. Therefore, I believe that it is a totally positive innovation.
