People nowadays tend to have too much expectation of their children’s success. In my opinion, this phenomenon is the result of the innovation in educational quality in many regions all over the world and I think this is a negative trend because of many issues that children may have to face.
To commence with, I think the most persuasive explanation for this trend is the continuous innovation of education on a worldwide scale. Nowadays, governments in a lot of countries carry out many policies that encourage their education. As a result, there are more and more institutions in suburban and rural areas (whose residents previously did not have much ability to access formal learning routes). This fact means that students have to compete much more harshly with the others.Subsequently, becoming successful is more difficult, at the expense of much effortness and expenditure spent on studying. This phenomenon can explain why there are so many parents nowadays who put too much pressure on their children’s success.
I think the given trend is negative because of some problems with children’s health, not only for their psychology but also for their physical development. Receiving too much pressure can lead to the lack of confidence in children. For instance, once they can not meet the demand of their parents frequently, they will feel guilty and consider them as losers which may lead to mental collapse. Furthermore, children also need to spend a lot of time on trying to meet their parent’s expectations, which means that they don’t have much time left for doing exercises. As a result, they can not have the best physical development.
In summary, the harsh competition between students nowadays makes parents tend to have higher expectations of their children, which is a negative phenomenon because of health problems children may face.
