Band 5+: Nowadays, people often buy new items, use them for a short time, and then replace them as fashions or technology change. Give some reasons why people behave like this and discuss the implications of this new pattern of behaviour for our society as a whole.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Across the globe, many new elements are bought and used in a short term due to the proliferation of fashion or technology. This shift can be caused by the fast fashion tendency and several reasons, which might lead to a number of impacts on our society.

The main reason why people tend to replace their items such as clothes is the various fashion trends that change frequently, especially in the young community. Take Tiktok as an example. It is easy to recognize that tons of different styles appear on Tiktok everyday, however, these designs are often unique and difficult to apply in daily life. Therefore, people need to renovate their items to keep up with the latest fashion, instead of reusing them. In addition, digital devices may be upgraded by some annually because of the influence of the brand, iPhone for instance, or because they are a big fan of technology.

On the contrary, throwing away items without recycling like clothes or smart devices can result in serious consequences. It affects the environment when a huge range of fabric is discharged. Moreover, in case that electronic devices are not thrown correctly, it might be the basis for fires. If people continue buying trendy things but do not plan for the long term application, it will be a waste of cost, even those items can not be absolutely safe.

In conclusion, the phenomenon that people use things in a short time has been influenced by excessive fashion trends and some people who show interest in following the trends. As a result, this shift causes implications to the environment, disasters and the safety problems.

Some individuals are of the opinion that fresh water should be freely available for everyone whenever they want. However, others say that it is better to strictly regulate fresh water usage. While there are many positive effects in the implementation of strict water usage, I firmly disagree with this approach.

Admittedly, there are merits associated with the approach in strictly regulating the use of water. The first reason would involve the wasteful use of water in people’s routine. In many developed countries around the world, fresh water often costs a really cheap price, in which people will often capitalize this aspect to recklessly waste tons […]
