Social medias have become an inseparable part of our life since the digitalization of this era is reaching to its peak every day. People use these medias to keep connection among their communities and to get news in short time. Hence, using social media has evolved and it has both good and bad side to it. I firmly believe that, the demerits of this are much stronger than the benefits which I will describe in my further statements while mentioning both views.
Social medias like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. are constantly backing us up with supports like having to spend less time while sending emergency news, disaster alerts and good news also. As a consequence, in emergency situations we can take actions as soon as we get messages or notifications. Another bright side is, the distance among countries and people have grown shorter. Because of social medias, we are always sharing our cultures, traditions and history with no boundaries. Spreading education, business, interesting ideas -possibly every sphere of our life has seen some benefits due to the massive popularities of these medias.
But nothing good in this world comes unmixed. So along with the benefits, demerits are also rising vigorously. The prime disadvantage is it takes toll on our mental health. Which causes problems like inferiority complex, low self-esteem, anxiety and depression. I personally have faced these too. We are too addicted in using social medias and this addiction is graving deeper roots as time passes by. Whatever benefits the medias are serving us, it is taking much more valuable things from us like mental peace and satisfaction.
Furthermore, frauds on social medias are nothing new. Day by day, they are rapidly increasing in numbers and crime schemes. The bad sides do not stop here, often by sharing sensitive contents or thoughts, we tend to hurt each other’s personal feelings. Sometimes this leads to huge conflicts among communities. To add more, recently the apps are rumored to steal our personal information for their marketing strategies which is a breach to privacy. Thus, the benefits actually fall short at the end of the day.
To sum up, the benefits are obviously important for us- but not at the cost of our lives and peace of mind. That is why the disadvantages are much heavier to me. We should use social medias more wisely and for good causes.
