Currently, the architectural designs of buildings are inspired by foreign cultures which results in loss of cultural identities of the respective communities. I think that any architecture or building should be built in accordance to the requirements.
Buildings should be built considering the purpose of the construction. For instance, take a Muslim worship place, a mosque. The mosque cannot be built on any specific cultural design. It has to be modest complying with the Islamic principles and Muslim prayers. It is not possible that it is constructed without minarets and dome. Secondly, buildings have to be constructed with modern day requirements. In this era, population is increasing. However, land for construction is decreasing. So, engineers find its solution in towers consisting of huge number of flats. For example, in urban areas, huge population have to be adjusted in scarce land.
Engineers also consider the techniques which make any structure more reliable and efficient. Engineers consider ideas of double glaze windows, more strength to be able to cope with natural disasters, etc. For example, Japan is prone to tsunamis and earthquakes so they build flexible structures which are able to avoid resonance of earthquake vibrations. Furthermore, climate has to be taken into account, too. As, in arctic and extremely harsh cold climates, igloos are build to live. Besides, the factor of finance has to be into account as well. It is an age of inflation, especially after Corona virus. That’s why, each individual has to resist his favourite designs.
In summary, gone are the days where cultures were taken into account for constructing buildings. Buildings have to be constructed complying the requirements of modern age and to some extent, personal preferences.
