Some people believe that when children begin attending school, teachers have a stronger influence on their intellectual and social development than parents. Although teachers play an important role in educate students, I disagree with this belief because parents still have a greater influence on both the individual development of children and their role in society.
At personal level, parents have a deeper and more lasting influence on a child’s intellectual and social development. Children spend their early year at home where parents shape their thinking, behavior and emotional intelligence. Parents guide their children’s learning habits, attitudes toward education and personal values through daily interaction. For instance, a child whose parents encourage reading and critical thinking at home is more likely to develop strong intellectual abilities.
When looking at society side , parents play a important role in preparing children to function well in the community. Social behaviors such as respect, responsibility and cooperation are first learned at home and later practiced in school and society. While teachers can guide students in social activities, children usually follow rules already teach by parents. For instance, children who are taught politeness and respect at home tend to interact positively with classmates and teachers, helping them integrate more easily into society.
In conclusion, although teachers contribute significantly to students education after they start school, parents remain the most influential figures in both intellectual and social development. Therefore, I strongly believe that parents have a greater overall impact on children than teachers.
