There is a controversial viewpoint that when students go to school, teachers have a greater impact on children’s intelligence and social development. In my opinion, I totally disagree with this idea and this essay will clarify some reasons supporting my perspective.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that teachers have a significant influence on students’ growth, especially on shaping their intelligence and developing social competence. First and foremost, teachers have been trained in pedagogical skills for years in specialized education universities; therefore, it is understandable that they can convey knowledge and social skills more effectively to students than normal people. As a result students who spend most of their time each day at school may gradually instill academic knowledge and educational lessons from their teachers. In addition, most children go to school from an early age, enabling them to get exposure to standard education when their brain is forming physically and mentally. For this reason, they are likely to be susceptible to acquire new knowledge and skills thanks to methodical guidelines from teachers.
However, parents also play a pivotal role in children ‘s intellectual and social growth. Parents intrinsically have a strong correlation with their children meaning that they understand their children more than others encompassing hobbies, characteristics or talents when they are young. As a result, it is effortless for parents to give useful and suitable lessons that they draw from life to students even in daily communication . In addition, children have a tendency to comfortably share their difficulties in life with their parents since parents are considered to be reliable anchors, facilitating parents to help them improve shortcoming and develop more holistically. For example, if children have a lack of confidence or insecurity when communicating, parents can help them boost social skills by encouraging their spirit or having intimate and open conservation at home.
In conclusion, although teachers can provide systematical knowledge effectively contributing to intellectual and social development among students, especially for children going to school from an early age, parents also have a great influence in their children’s growth. Because of close connection with them and being trustworthy companions, they not only teach children easily but also improve their weakness, developing well-rounded knowledge for them.
