Band 7+: Online learning is more effective than traditional one. Do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is undeniable that the landscape of education has undergone significant transformation due to the rapid advancement of digital technology. Many individuals assert that online learning surpasses its traditional counterpart in terms of effectiveness. I wholeheartedly agree with this viewpoint, as there are numerous compelling reasons to support this assertion.

First and foremost, the dynamic and diverse nature of online learning captures the interest of a growing number of students, fostering enthusiasm for learning. Traditional education often revolves around passive absorption of information from textbooks and lectures, whereas online learning encourages active engagement by utilizing various multimedia resources such as images, videos, and interactive games. This not only enhances the specificity of lesson delivery but also effectively sustains student attention. This point is clearly manifested in the fact that with the traditional way of learning, teachers and students had a long distance in conveying and comprehending the lessons as it relies solely on static instructional materials. Online learning, on the other hand, learners could be exposed to multimedia-based online learning as opposed to traditional methods. As a result, instead of being pressured and dull, they exhibited higher levels of motivation and engagement.

Furthermore, online learning creates good opportunities for individuals to take charge of their learning experience by enabling flexibility in time and location. Students are no longer confined by rigid class schedules, as they can access educational resources and participate in courses from any location with internet connectivity. This level of accessibility allows individuals to seek to pursue subjects not offered in their local vicinity, as they can readily enroll in online courses catered to their specific interests. Furthermore, individuals are able to go back and access the resources. They can rewatch, and relearn their lessons whenever there is a need. The recent COVID-19 pandemic should be a compelling example of this. Educational continuity was maintained despite the inability to take part in traditional classrooms. Consequently, online learning has proven to be an invaluable tool for ensuring uninterrupted access to education during times of crisis.

To summarize, with the ability to foster the student’s enthusiasm and help them to manage their studying, online learning is more effective than traditional one. However, it is important to acknowledge that online learning is an evolution rooted in the traditional one. Therefore, individuals should choose the method that best aligns with their educational preferences and needs.
