Band 7+: Organized tour to remote areas and community is increasingly popular. Is it a positive or negative development for the local people and the environment?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In recent years, travelers from all over the world have been increasingly aware of and popular with tours to unusual and inaccessible locations. Although the local population benefits from this development, the environment nonetheless suffers from some of its negative effects.

There is no doubt that the growth of the tourism sector greatly helps the local populace. First and foremost, the local labor has a lot of opportunity to generate more revenue from this. In order to meet the market’s rapidly rising demand, more hotels, restaurants, and other businesses are likely to open. As a result, locals can work in these establishments to supplement their income while also boosting the local economy. Furthermore, the local community’s standard of life has increased as a result of this industry’s rise. For instance, more roads and bridges will be constructed to accommodate the increased demand from tourists, which will greatly improve the area’s infrastructure and lodging.

On the other hand, there are problems associated with environmental contamination with the growth of local tourism. Air pollution is thought to be the most prevalent issue that most likely arose when local tourism expanded. To clarify, the primary cause of air pollution, which harms local residents’ quality of life and harms the perception of the locations, is the emission of pollutants from factories and cars visiting tourist destinations. In addition, a variety of additional contaminants can be found in some attractions. For instance, soil pollution stems from the removal of trees from forests, and water pollution may endanger marine life.

In conclusion, although to some extent, the growth of tourism to remote locations and foreign nations is beneficial to the local residents, it is more likely to have harmful influences on the local environment.
