There has been much controversy over whether excessively exploiting the sea environment brings more benefits or drawbacks. From my point of view, I firmly opine that we need to prohibit this action in many countries in order to protect the environment.
It is understandable why some individuals think that it is totally beneficial. One advantage of overfishing is that it significantly enhances the short-term economy. There are a variety of fish and other sea creatures that are really easy to access by fishing and poaching. As a result, it directly affects the improvement of the country. Additionally, by catching more fish, the fishing industry can supply enough seafood to markets, restaurants, and exporters. The result is that it can satisfy the demand of the market.
However, I argue that the downside of excessive fishing is more significant. One clear disadvantage is that this action threatens the safety of creatures under the sea. It is because this action can lead to the destruction of their homes, such as coral, or their natural environment. Additionally, such a drawback can be detrimental, leading to the disappearance of endangered fish and other species, which is impossible to stop immediately and leads to economic loss in the long term.
In conclusion, because of the reason above, I undoubtedly lean toward the idea that
protecting our oceans from overfishing is not only an environmental duty but also a responsibility for the future of humanity. Governments must implement more strict regulations, promote sustainable fishing methods, and raise public awareness to ensure the protection of marine ecosystems.
