Nowadays, fame can be achieved through different programs shown on TV and websites on the internet. While this trend may offer some benefits in economic and social prospects, it may have some drawbacks for young people and followers.
On the one hand, becoming well-known on social media can benefit celebrities economically. To be precise, when a person succeeds in gaining publicity, they are highly likely to have opportunities to earn a great amount of money by advertising products on their pages or participating in different shows. In addition, as famous people tend to be influential, they have a tendency to inspire others, as a result of which it brings advantages to viewers, as well. For example, they can use their platform to increase the awareness of the general public towards environmental issues, including global warming, suggesting them to take small steps to solve these problems.
On the other hand, there are several disadvantages of being famous on the internet. First and foremost, it affects young children negatively. In other words, the young following bloggers may obtain some stereotypes, such as the possibility of acquiring fame being easy without any hard work or education. This is because most people are now becoming famous for meaningless videos and actions that do not have any moral values. Moreover, the celebrities of television or media may endorse products of poor quality. As a result, followers can buy these products and suffer from fraud. Take a blogger who advised people to buy a certain lotion as a striking example, for that product was not well-examined, which led to allergic reactions to buyers who tried it after seeing that endorsement.
In conclusion, making money and motivating people may be possible merits of fame achieved through the net, but it might result in misleading ideas and being deceived.
