Nowadays, an increasing number of people argue about paying tax to governments. I strongly disagree with this argument, given that governments spend taxes on local communities where the same people live and grow.
To begin with, governments need tax to fulfill some of the basic requirements of each society, including construction of schools, hospitals, and transport systems. These facilities can be used by local community members. In other words, tax expenses will be spent in a way that is beneficial for society members. For instance, public schools, where children attend at no cost, are built and organized by governments through taxes paid by people. If individuals decide to keep all the money they earn, then governments would not be able to cover such expenses, and as a result, societies will suffer from detrimental effects of an uneducated society over time.
Another crucial reason that may arise is insurance. Although it is true that if people keep all of their money, perhaps they would be able to pay for themselves; nevertheless, some procedures cost more than what people often expect. For example, medical imaging in the healthcare system, which is commonly used in differential diagnosis, costs more than $3000. By having insurance, governments will take the responsibility and pay all the expenses. In order for governments to cover these high, emergency expenses, people are encouraged to pay taxes and reduce the risk of unprecedented situations.
In conclusion, paying tax has several benefits and I believe people should not keep all the money they earn. That said, construction of basic facilities like schools and providing individuals with insurance rely on governments receiving taxes.
