People who do not live in cities have fewer opportunities for academic education. It is discussed that governments should step into this situation and implement initiatives that could change this state. In my opinion, lowering entry requirements and tuition fees is a step towards the solution of this problem.
To start, a decreased difficulty in entry exams would benefit both students and universities. The academic level is irrelevant to the basic knowledge tested at first. The following in-depth analysis of the core courses is equally challenging for all of the students. The main purpose of universities is to provide high-level expertise in students no matter their prior level. Furthermore, people living in country have a different perspective in nature. For example, they might have a better understanding on the cycle of water, or to biology in general as through gardening they might have dealt with seeds turning into trees. Therefore, they can connect with science through past experiences which may be common[ to science lessons. This is why I believe that the entry requirements do not play as a crucial role as some people may believe.
As for the pricing part, I also believe that governments should step into and help people leaving in county. I will emphasise in two main reasons. Firstly, there are more job opportunities in cities and therefore the salaries in city are generally higher compared to the salaries in counties. In order for governments to balance this gap, it would be helpful to lower the tuition fees in such cases. Lower salaries is not the only concern for whoever is thinking about applying to a university. Most of the universities are located in cities and people leaving outside of them, need to relocate. The expenses associated with relocation, rent and transportation should also be taken into account. For these reasons, I believe that lowering the tuition fees would be a positive initiative on behalf of government.
In conclusio, driving initiatives to provide equal opportunities to education for the entiry population of a country is a plus. This is why in my opinion, both entry limits and tuition fees should be lowered for people living in counties.
