It is shown that some people gained debt from a consumptive behaviour of buying things they don’t necessarily need. Additionally, this is also intrigued by the desire to buy stuff without having enough money. This essay will explore the reasons for this behaviour and suggest actions can be taken to prevent the problem.
The primary reason for this behaviour is the intense longing for validation of their peers. As humans tend to bond with others, the type of society someone involved also played a big part in deciding their behaviours. For instance, in Indonesia joining some community means you are required to spend money for the activities or at least the subscription. In addition, social media and celebrities also influenced the luxury lifestyle. Some of them use social media to exhibit their wealth through their choices of fashion, cars, or houses. Therefore, it is reflected in the digital citizen who looks up to their faves and urge to be engaged in that way of living. However, if their needs don’t match their economic stance it is likely to lead into debt.
To prevent this problem, saving skills are required. Importantly, the capabilities to do budgeting and tracking the incomes and outcomes can effectively save their life from unpaid bills. Furthermore, awareness of primary needs, secondary needs, and licensure needs also essential.
In summary, the strong wishes for validation and influenced luxury lifestyle without proper economic awareness, can foster a surplus of debt. However, planning the budget and tracking the money history while prioritizing the primary needs can prevent the problems.
