In this day and age, it is said that people migrating to other nations ought to study and follow traditions and culture of the new country. Although there are many arguments about this tendency, I am the opponent of this viewpoint for some aspects.
To begin with, following the cultural identity of a new nation negatively affects migrants due to the loss of original values. When traveling to a new nation, there are various differences in many aspects between their hometown and strange country, which captivates more migrants coming to that nation. Adapting to the host culture could help people integrate better; however, this would lead to long-term consequences including giving up traditional customs or even their origins. For instance, while some migrants go to a new country to find a new living place, they tend to be attracted with many new values as well as uncontrolledly follow, which leads to their loss of identity.
Furthermore, I firmly disagree with this viewpoint because the tendency of cultural preservation of migrants has increased significantly. Although they travel overseas with the aim of finding a new place to reside, their own cultural identities as well as conventional values remain unchanged, which contribute to national cultural preservation despite the rise of globalization. Take Vietnamese migrants as an example, no matter where they reside in the world, they still maintain the original customs, specially during Tet holiday or other special events.
In conclusion, integrating into the new society is disadvantageous for migrants due to the loss of conventional values. Moreover, I am also firmly opposed to this viewpoint due to the cultural preservation.
