Nowadays, social media has transformed people’s lifestyle. It has changed communication ways, fashion, and influencing the whole precprective of individuals on diffrent topics. However i highly belive that social media has brought more harms than benefits to our generation, yet there are people who think that it had a significant impact on society.
Many people believe that social media has affected negatively our society. youth’s addiction to many playforms most of them, instagram ,tiktok, and snapchat increased lately. Teachers reported the decrease of the student’s concentration during class due to the consnant scrolling through short videos. Moreover , teenagers who are active on social media became highly insecure about their physique, and status.for example, teenage girls mainly who go through hard periods of struggling with insecurities and lack of confidence, the algorithm in their feed shows exactly what they have ever desired, healthy skinny bodies, glowy skin,…which led to comparison and increasing their self doubt; believeing everything they see on social media, may even cause serious, harmful consequences.
However, others presume that social media has a positive impact on society. First of all it allows online communication regardless of the distance ,highlights political , economical , and social issues. In addition , social media platforms like youtube and instagram provide with cooking tips , recipes and enable online independent learning by providing with online courses. Furthermore, it encourages people to speak more freely about their rights and their opinion. For example, social media has helped in speaking about womens’ rights by creating social content and sharing with millions of people for others to take the topic more seriously.
As a conclusion, social media has both advantages and disadvantages, that’s why people should learn to use it more properly and limit the usage to a certain time in order to not harm both their physical and mental health. Also Parents should be more controlling over their childs’ screen time.
