Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The topic of pursuing material wealth and nurturing meaningful connections has sparked considerable debate in recent times. While some people argue that many individuals currently tend to be obsessed with owning material possessions, others believe that they should concentrate on building good bonds with their loved ones such as family and friends. In my opinion, although both perspective hold a vI somewhat agree that materialism are becoming prominent in today’s life.

Supporters of this perspective often emphasize the importance of social prejudice and family expectation as a driving forces behind material obsession. This is because the bulk of the elderly blindly believe that their younger generation must achieve material success at an early age to be possibly considered as successful. For evidence, over 90% of the final-year and penultimate-year students are thrive for acquiring material wealth before 30 years old in order to live up with their family expectation and to temporarily feel confident about their achievements. In turn, the fact is that material obsession may lead to a rising pressure and burden on teenagers, regardless of its temporary fulfillment.

Conversely, many argue that maintaining close connections plays a more significant role. I agree with this view to some extent, as it supplies mental assistance and lasting happiness, which material success cannot provide. A good example of this can be seen in the fact that many researches prove that spending time with family and friends is a basic but effective way to recharge their energy after a busy day and that helps maintain a work-life balance in a daily routine. while pursuing professional goals may offer short-term gratification, nurturing meaningful relationships yields more enduring fulfillment. Therefore, I believe both are equally important and that we should strike a balance between the two is essential.

In conclusion, although possessing material wealth is a growing concern, especially among younger generations influenced by social standards, it is also clear that spending time with loved ones remains vital to personal happiness. Therefore, I believe individuals should aim to strike a healthy balance between those things to achieve a truly fulfilling life.
