In this generation, there are many news where people around the age of 18 or under is committed a crime, and a re-educated is highly recommended than punishing them. Let’s discuss about this phenomenon. It is undeniable that people under the age of 18 who we usually called teenagers are a group of people who is still trying to figures things out in life. Those who are still need guidance and protection from their peers such as family.
I would say I agree that these teenagers are being re-educated rather than punished, why? Because there are many factors why they commit crimes, one of many reasons is because they have no one who guides them through life. Most kids with a normal family, of course have their own parents or older siblings that can tell them what is right and what is wrong, therefore, they will eventually learn that some actions might cause harm to others, to extend of calling it a crime. Moreover, normal kid also goes to school where there are teachers and many other supporters that can give them so much knowledge about life and being a citizen who lives with other human. However, those who commit crimes, might have a different way of living. Maybe, they come from a broken places where that function simply do not exist for them, therefore, they do not know what they’re doing, that they do not even know if it is right or wrong.
This is the reason why I agree that they receive a more advance education rather than being punished. Because there are some aspects in life that they do not know yet, and they need to learn more about it. Other than that, punishing an eighteen years old kid wouldn’t bring many different, other than them questioning themselves what did they do wrong. As a result, there are chances they will do it again in the future simply because no one told them that what they did was wrong, how to fix it, and how to be a normal citizen.
In conclusion, I believe everyone who commit crimes should receive something to what they have done. Whether it’s a punishment or a being in rehab where there is a system that can help them to educate themselves more. Moreover its people under the age of 18 we are talking about, they are still young and have a lot in their life, a second chance for a better education hopefully will not hurt anyone in the future.
