I do agree to this argument, but to an extent. Nowadays, original ideas are very difficult to find. With the development of technology and ease of communication, purely original ideas are very rare. Copying other people is very easy, but also isn’t that simple.
First of all, problems in the world are increasing by the minute. Environmental, health, and even economic issues continue to rise all around the globe. New problems require new solutions, traditional methods won’t always work. For example, if you have problems in communication, using a can and a string to communicate from 200 kilometers away won’t work. Now, mobile phones with social media are very common and have fixed this issue. Another example is new diseases that have surfaced, one of them was Covid-19. At that time, this virus seemed deadly and it didn’t have a cure at that time. But with new ideas and research, a cure was found and the issue has been solved.
On the other hand, although copying may seem useless, it has its benefits. Copying makes things more accessible to minorities. Not everything is cheap, and having an alternative that copies the original thing helps lower class people achieve what they need. For example, phones and technology. There are many technology brands out there, many cheaper ones copy the more expensive brands. A few Chinese brands have released phones and devices for a very low price, plus they usually look like a fake version of the more expensive brands. This is actually beneficial, because it aids people who can’t afford a more pricey phone.
In conclusion, I think original ideas benefit the development of technology and the world overall. But, copying others facilitates the less fortunate to also access the development of mankind.
