There is an opinion that public transportation ought to be unpaid. However, there are those who disagree, saying that there should be a fare for using it. I personally agree with the latter view.
On the one hand, it could be argued that free public transport is more beneficial to one’s life. Firstly, free public transportation typically offer less air pollution and less noise pollution. These factors naturally contribute to better respiratory health and leads to a quieter and more peaceful environment. Secondly, free-of-charge public transportation leads to reducing road congestion, which can lead to a reduction in road accidents and makes roads less crowded. Advocates of free public transportation also highlight the people can save a considerable amount of money, which helps reduce their financial burden.
Despite these arguments, I side with those who believe that people should pay for public transport. This is because the money collected from passengers can be used to improve the quality of services. For example, transport companies can maintain buses regularly and provide better conditions for passengers. They can also pay drivers better salaries, which may encourage them to work more responsibly. As a result, public transport services can become more comfortable and reliable. Moreover, this system can reduce the financial burden on the government because it does not have to cover all the costs itself.
In conclusion, although free public transportation may lead to lower air pollution levels, particularly through the declining traffic jams, I believe that people should pay for public transport because it helps improve services and reduces the financial burden on the government.
