A segment of population who enjoys reading books has a broad imagination and language abilities, in comparison to those who watch TV. I agree with this idea and the reasons for my opinion are stated below.
Reading books broadens individuals’ worldview and enlarges vocabulary. When a person reads books, especially with scientific context, it helps him or her in developing new neuron connections between cells. For example, many scientific researches show that people who age slowly are the book readers. Moreover, a habit of reading books fosters imagination that makes our lives more meaningful and enjoyable. Additionally, those who read lot , have a wider range of vocabulary than those, who do not read at all or read less.
On the other hand, individuals who prefer watching TV to reading books may lack imagination. Spending time in front of TV decreases cognitive abilities of an individual, because brain may stop building new brain cells. For example, it has recently been discovered that people who has an exceeded time spend on TV, have greater risk of having Alzcheimer’s disease compared to those who do not.
In conclusion, I totally agree that reading books has a plethora of benefits such as enlarging imagination, increasing language abilities and enhancing brain functions, and as a result it makes individuals’ lives more enjoyable and meaningful.
