Among the multiple benefits of reading fiction the two major ones are developing reading as well as writing skills of languages and improving creative thinking. Thus, I believe prople who read for pleasure have a better chance of developing those skills than others who watch movies or shows.
When people read fictional books, they create mental images of the characters and plots of the stories in their minds, and when they do it friquently, it becomes easiter for them to imagin and perfectly visualize the whole book. As a result, they will develope the skills needed to imagin and create new things without the need for images and other external support. Conversely, people who watch movies consume a more finished version of the stories, with a smaller room for imagination. So they are less likely to develope those skills.
Furthermore, since reading is one of the fandamental skills of learning a new language, readers improve their language while enjoying the books. This is because while reading, they are unintentionally working on their ability to read faster, comperhand large amount of information, and memorize details. On the conterary, those who watch televisions are not working on this abilities; therefore, will be less skilled in the abilities listed above.
In conclusion, I strongly agree with the statement that readers have better language and creative abilities than individuals that consume media in a video format because they are working on them consistently.
