Climate change is a big problem today, and our planet needs help. Some people think that individuals will never change their lifestyle, so governments must force them. I partly agree with this statement because strict rules are necessary, but governments must also help people.
On the one hand, I agree that laws are very important. Most people do not want to change their daily habits because it is difficult or expensive. For example, many people prefer driving their own cars because it is faster and more comfortable than taking a bus. If governments make high taxes on petrol or charge money for plastic bags in shops, people will change their habits quickly. Without laws and fines, very few people will protect the environment by themselves.
On the other hand, forcing people is not the only solution. If governments only use rules and punishments, people will be angry. Therefore, governments must also offer easy and cheap options. For example, if a city wants people to stop using cars, it must build good public transport and safe cycle lanes. Also, education is very important. When schools teach children about nature, young people start to care about our planet naturally.
In conclusion, I partly agree that governments need to force people to fight climate change. Strict laws are necessary to stop bad habits, but governments must also educate citizens and give them green choices for a better future.
