As a country grows, so does its impact on nature in the form of pollution and over-use of resources. And while most contend that this outcome is inevidable, others argue that there are ways to develop without harming the environment. Personally, I align with the notion that it is possible to grow with nature.
There are sustainable ways in which a country can florish along with the environment. one of them being the use of renewable resources instead of those that are unreplaceable, and the other is switching from fossil fuels to clean energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power. Developing countries can also promote the use of sustainable materials to build their cities, reducing the manufacturing and import of carbon intensive materials like cement. For instance, a country that is rich in timber can opte for wood construction instead of importing foreign materials.
These contries also have the advantage of correcting their approach at an early stage of their growth, which is not the case for already developed countries. If they act now, countries like Ethiopia can follow a transformation rought that is beneficial to humans and the natural world around them, without sacrificing their progress. For example, using local materials will enable the construction industry in Ethiopia to reduce the relyence on concrete and saves millions of dollars simultaniously.
In conclusion, I strongly disagree with the perspective that growth comes at the cost of polluting and over consuming the reasources of the planet because there are several measures, like I mentioned above, that can be taken to avoid this outcome.
