Band 5+: Poor nutrition and obesity is a problem in many developed countries and some of people believe that a tax on fast food would reduce the problem. Do you agree?

Overweight is one of the big problems in many countries such as Samoa and Tonga, due to numerous restaurants provide fast services in terms of gain lots of customers in selling food and more income for the owner. Moreover, eatery places provide fast food in menu as their best serve and the prices is affordable for various groups of people. For example, Mc donnal and KFC are operating thousands of outlets around the world especially in pacific countries to serve their best menu fried chickens, french fries, and burgers, people just need 3 to 5 dollars to pay their meals for lunch or dinner and wait for around 5 to 10 minutes to get their orders. So therefore, many citizens came from different background with their responsibility do not waste their time to cook might preffer eating out.

Furthermore, the habit for eating out lead people to have health problem since individuals do not know about the ingredients countain in the food. As a result, this is effect to illnesses such as obesity and will impact to their life, and possible to have a heart attack caused death. Since this is a serious issue to pasifican countries with numerous cafeteria and dining room, for that reason the authorities should prevent it with rising the tax to the place related with business establishment serving food and beverage. With the increases of price majority of consumers might consider again if they want to purchase fast food or cook their own meal in household.

To sum up, obesity is a growing concern caused by the convenience and affordability of fast food. Governments and individuals must work together to encourage healthier eating habits and reduce the health risks associated with poor nutrition.
