Many people argue that citizens should keep all their assets and not have to pay taxes to their national budget. Although residents have to work hard to accumulate their money, I maintain that it is right for them to pay taxes to the state to contribute to the nation’s development and improve their background.
On the one hand, some people think it is justified to keep their hard-earned money instead of contributing to the tax system. They believe that money is what they deserve after working intensively for long hours while the government does not directly assist them in their work. However, this reason ignores that the national budget brings about many benefits for public infrastructures, schools, and hospitals which they enjoy routine. For instance, in many states in the USA, residents can go to school completely free under government patronage until they are 21 years old.
From my perspective, tax contribution is the practical responsibility that each of the citizens should do to promote the development of their countries and enhance the living standard. Indeed, the tax system is the largest investment for public transportation, healthcare, education, and national defense. For example, Ivory Coast has the highest personal income tax all over the world up to 60%, but most residents are still pleased to pay taxes annually because they enjoy free education, clean public transport, and advanced healthcare fields. In emergency cases such as wars and conflicts, the government could immediately allocate a national budget and tax revenue for the army and weapons to protect their nation. This is why I maintain that individuals should contribute to the national tax system instead of being selfish.
In conclusion, notwithstanding residents have to hard-working to cover their fee of livelihood, I am also convinced that individuals should pay taxes for the long-term development of the states, and the positive impacts that tax revenue brings to citizens.
