Books have always occupied a significant place in people’s lives. Nowadays, thanks to technology, books of any type can be read on phones, e-book readers, tablets or computers. Some people believe that e-books have more benefits than printed ones. I partly agree with this opinion and in this essay I will explain the reasons.
There are numerous positive aspects to reading e-books. Firstly, it is more comfortable and takes up less space in the backpack. Carrying only a tablet is much more convenient than a stack of volumes. Many students face back problems due to the weight of traditional books. Secondly, electronic books offer various functions to enhance the reading experience. Readers can adjust screen brightness, change the color of the page, or alter the text size at will. This is especially beneficial for individuals with vision problems. Thirdly, a significant advantage is that e-books can be read even in the dark, addressing situations when there is no available lightning.
Despite the many advantages of e-books, there are instances where printed books take the lead. One should not overlook the negative impact of the blue light emitted from screens. Paper-based books do not have such a drawback. Additionally, printed books evoke a deeper emotional connection than electronic ones. The process of searching for the right book in a bookstore or library is fascinating. Moreover, the tactile experience turning pages feels entirely different, allowing readers to immerse themselves in the story. This is why some individuals prefer this traditional way of reading.
In conclusion, e-books offer as many benefits as paper-based ones. Ultimately, the choice between the two depends on the individual’s preferences. Personally, I would prefer electronic books as they are more relevant in today’s world.
