It is believed that the rates for violent crimes committed by young people have increased significantly in recent years. Some specialists claim that parents and teachers are responsible for teaching children basic social and emotional knowledge, which is the main reason for this trend. Personally, I completely agree with this point of view.
One reason why I agree with this idea is that parents are being less attentive to their children’s behaviour. At home some parents do not pay attention to what kind of social media platforms or apps their children are using online. For instance, these days on the internet there are too many restricted online platforms which can affect the behavior of youngsters and harm their mental development. This often pushes youngsters to do illegal activities and become criminals in society. Were every parent to support children emotionally and spend time effectively with them, they might not engage in crimes.
Another stronger reason why I agree is that some teachers are becoming less responsible in their profession. For example, at schools some older teachers prefer to give permission to students to play games during lessons rather than teaching subjects. As a result, some students lose interest in school subjects, which are crucial for becoming responsible individuals in society. To tackle this, schools should hire more young teachers who are willing to teach youngsters and be more responsible to children’s behaviour.
In conclusion, it is argued that the number of crimes among young people is increasing due to a lack of basic social and emotional education. Personally, I believe that both parents and teachers should be more attentive to children’s emotional development and behavioural education.
