The tables shows a statistical comparison about the sales ( millions of euros ) of Fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas in five different european countries in the year of 1999 and 2004.
Compared to 1999 in 2004 there is overall rise in the sales of coffee. In UK the sales are almost 13 times more in the year 2004 than in 1999 ( 1.5 to 20 million euros). Furthermore in Switzerland and Belgium the sales are almost doubled. Whereas, sales are approximately similar in Denmark and Sweden only slight increase in the year 2004 is seen.
Looking forward with the sales of banana , one could say that the sales of banana are more in Switzerland with 15 million euros in 1999 increased dramatically in 2004 to 47 million euros. In UK and Belgium the sale have been increased by almost 6 times. Intrestingly, in Sweden and Denmark the sales have a fall from 1.8 to 1 and 2 to 0.9 million euros from 1999 to 2004 respectively.
The coffee consumption has overall rise in all the five European countries in 2004 whereas for bananas three countries showed increased in consumption whereas two of them have downfall.
