Nowadays, some people consider schools no longer essential because children can get information from the internet and study just as well at home. While it is true that the internet provides access to a vast amount of information, schools still play a critical role in a child’s education and development. Therefore, I disagree with the statement that schools are no longer necessary.
First of all, schools provide much more than just access to information. They offer a structured and supportive learning environment where children can develop social skills, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and creativity. Schools provide opportunities for children to engage in extracurricular activities, sports, and the arts, which are essential for developing well-rounded individuals. For example, most schools offer a range of extracurricular activities, including sports teams, music lessons, drama clubs, and academic clubs. Therefore, a student who loves basketball can join the school basketball team, and a student who loves music can take music lessons offered by the school.
In addition, schools provide access to experienced and qualified teachers who can offer guidance and support that goes beyond mere information provision. Teachers can motivate and challenge students, offer individualized instruction, and provide feedback and assessment that helps students improve their understanding and skills. For instance, a student who is struggling to understand a difficult concept in a subject like mathematics may turn to their teacher for help. The teacher can explain the concept in a way that makes sense to the student, provide examples, offer feedback on the student’s work, and address any misconceptions or gaps in the student’s understanding.
