There is a debate that the growth in technology has decreased the percentages of crime. In fact, this condition could decline the rate of unemployment and also prevent many offenders from committing different kinds of violences. However, the easy access to the internet has created a process for fraud. I agree with this claim and my explanation towards this will be illustrated in the following essay.
On the one hand, the technological enhancement has led to the creation of more careers such as programming and AI-based engineering. In reality, the better access to technology, the more jobs are available for the people to earn income. As a result, less people tend to commit crimes because of economic issues.
Furthermore, the advances in AI and technology have brought about new methods to find criminals. For example, thieves can be arrested easier than in the past by CCTV. As a result, the higher proportion of individuals avoid doing violent activities because of the fear of being sent to jails.
On the other hand, developments of technology have provided many opportunities for the fraudster. In other words, these years, the number of online offences has grown significantly on online platforms. For instance, clicking on links and achieving others’ bank accounts is a consequence of improvements in technology.
To sum up, even though due to the technological improvements, many modern methods have been created. This procedure could motivate a group of criminals to turn to online ways of fraud. Finally, since many offences can be revealed more easily, I believe that this could impact the crime rates considerably.
