Some people might find banning the use of social platforms during elections pretty handy. The destruction which, might cause a simple app is horrific. On the web, there are a lot of really influential people, who can lead the minds of thousands of simple citizens. Additional interference from other apps, which can entertain and simultaneously spoil the willingness of a voter, could cause massive disruption in their ideological views. Propaganda has always been with us, whether it is good like a healthy lifestyle, or bad like an oppositional leader who was bribed by the other side to establish their own interests in a country. The globality of the internet creates access to everybody all around the world.
From the other perspective, people will lose contact with family and friends, because nowadays communication is mainly performed through those apps. Furthermore, in some countries, elections of different government structures are held lots of times during the year, so it would distract them, and might change an app to the alternative if any left.
In my personal opinion, this idea has its right to live in the political perspective. I mean that banning a term of presidential elections would be a great decision from the government. If the government found those restrictions too disruptive, I would suggest developing a national, or, what could be better, a union’s media so only countries that were in the union were able to interact with it. This would decentralize, and provide safe and fair conditions for an upcoming election.
In conclusion, social media, during political campaigns, are able not only to create a thread but also to break people’s minds. So creating a good alternative that should provide better services and information on a national level could solve the problem.
