Band 5+: Should young people do unpaid socially useful work in their free time or not?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays many people think that young people should be involved volunteer work during their free time. In partly agree with statement due to several key reasons.

One compelling argument behind my stance is that community work might be beneficial for the younger generation. They are able to develop some new skills such as cooperative teamwork and willingness to help others. Moreover, young adults xre also encouraged to communicate more and meet some like-minded people while taking part in an unpaid work. A prime example of positive influence it has is my city. In most of the universities students are highly motivated to participate in cleaning the parks every spring and not only do they enjoy this activity, but also they became more responsible and caring about the environment.

However, it is important to consider young people who might be preoccupied with their studies or part-time jobs. Therefore obligation to do community work may result in burnouts or low academic performance as students were left no time for resting. If this activity is msde compulsory, the engagement of participants may be lower, impacting the work efficiency

In conclusion, I believe community work could be beneficial for young people, though they shouldn’t be forced to do it.

It is argued that grandparents have a wealth of knowledge to teach their grandchildren, whereas others believe that a huge generational gap make it difficult to connect with them. From my perspective, despite some technological and cultural differences, grandparents have more experiences and wisdom to share with their grandchildren. Nowadays, online learning programmes have gained popularity; however, some people believe that online courses cannot be as beneficial as face-to-face classes. I partly agree with this view because, although online learning offers several advantages, such as the convenience of studying from home, it also has some drawbacks. On the one hand, one major reason why […]
