Sustainability is a major discussion around the world. Nowadays, many households use solar energy in contrast to coal to produce electricity. In this essay, I will explain why It is gaining popularity in recent times and will also list down the advantages and disadvantages.
First of all, what is solar energy? It is a way to produce electricity by placing solar panels in the terrace by which it can absorb the sun light. It is sustainable and also a cost-saving method.
Some of the advantages are, it saves coal that is used in electric turbine to generate electricity which certainly cause damage to the environment. Secondly, solar energy is produced through sunlight so it is environment friendly. In addition, it is also considered to be a pocket friendly method.
But that being said, it also comes up with some disadvantages as well. For example, sometimes it catches five due to overheat resulting in burning down the houses. Although, solar energy reduce the cost of electricity, the setting up of solar panel is expensive. It also requires a lot of space to install a solar panel in the rooftop of the house. Additionally, it can only work when there is a sunlight which is definitely a disadvantage when there is a bad weather.
In conclusion, although solar energy is considered to be a renewable energy and is known for its sustainability, it also comes up with some disadvantages which I have mentioned earlier. In my opinion, before setting up a solar panel it is important do some research on the location, its climate and the consequences that can be faced by the people and finding an alternative to that.
