A balanced diet plays an important role in people’s health. Some individuals argue that people should be responsible for their own diet and health, while others believe that the government should make healthy food more accessible to the public. This essay will discuss both sides of the argument before presenting my own opinion.
On the one hand, there is a view that citizens should be accountable for their food choices. Firstly, every individual has the freedom to make their own choices. This is because they can choose healthy foods such as fresh vegetables and fruit and avoid fast food. As a result, they can reduce the risk of health problems such as obesity and cardiovascular diseases. Secondly, healthy habits prevent some diseases. This means that people can avoid diet-related diseases by exercising regularly, creating a daily diet, and reducing harmful habits such as smoking or excessive alcohol consumption. Consequently, people can adopt a healthy lifestyle.
On the other hand, some people believe that the government should play a significant role in promoting a healthy diet. First of all, many individuals are not able to afford nutritious food. One explanation for this is that the government can ensure a healthy diet for children at school or support low-income families. As a consequence, the government can encourage people to adopt a balanced diet. In addition, the government can regulate food manufacturing and require clear nutrition labels. This is mainly because many products can have a large amount of salt, sugar, and chemicals. Thus, the government can reduce the risk of diseases by regulating the quality of foods at supermarkets.
In conclusion, there might be some reasons to think that the government should ensure citizens have a balanced diet. However, I firmly believe that individuals should take responsibility for their own food choices. This is because the government is not able to regulate everyone’s choices, and citizens can control their diet.
