Some argue that the teenager that commits serious crimes is required to be given punishment similar to the adults. I completely disagree with the idea since the teenagers are still underage and immature and need different approaches such as psychological assistance.
To begin with, teenagers should be punished differently with adults since they are still underage, immature, and in an explorative era. When they are in this period, they tend to do vandalism based on their curiosity towards film or video games, not by the real criminal intention. For instance, if teenagers play video games that contain violence and crimes, it gives negative influences and they may find it cool. This leads to their actions in criminals to fulfill their curiosity without thinking of the further consequences. Thus due to this conditions, teenager should not receive same punishment.
In addition, the teenager needs more psychological assistance than adult punishment such as being imprisoned. Due to their immature thinking of consequences with criminals, what they need is psychological assistance and counseling that will make them better. Being imprisoned like adults often leaves traumatic events and can make the teenager more aggressive in the future. Thus, different approaches might be fit for the teenager.
In conclusion, the teenager doing vandalism should not be punished as the adults. Teenagers are still underage, immature and need psychological assistance rather than being imprisoned like adults.
