A group of people suggests that several measures should be taken to prevent crime. Others contend that current measures are sufficient for effective crime control. While significant advancements can still be made globally, I believe there is still much to be done to combat crime in society due to new trends such as population growth, the Internet, and mass media.
When addressing crime, there are differing opinions on whether additional measures are necessary. Some argue that law enforcement has been strengthened in the contemporary era. Key strategies, such as deploying more military personnel, raising public awareness, and installing surveillance cameras in public areas, have played a vital role in crime prevention. These measures enhance public safety through consistent monitoring, creating an environment in which citizens can feel secure and at ease. Moreover, there is a belief that a lack of proactive initiatives could result in a decrease in the effectiveness of crime prevention efforts. In Dubai, for example, strict rules are enforced only for those who commit crimes intentionally. Under the rigid regulations in that country, individuals who are caught stealing, particularly repeat offenders, may face severe penalties, such as the amputation of hands. These laws are thought to be effective in deterring crimes and minimizing unlawful activities.
Nevertheless, I remain unconvinced that crime is being addressed or managed to the extent required. It is evident that crime rates have not vanished and it is unrealistic to expect them to be completely eradicated, particularly in countries with large populations, such as China and India, where crime is widespread. Although certain types of felonies, such as bank robberies, carjackings, and theft, have decreased, other forms of criminal activity continue to rise. These types of crime are still prevalent despite being prohibited and are often perceived as having insignificant consequences. This, in turn, contributes to a rise in criminal activity, as unemployed people may resort to illegal means of making money when they feel excluded from legal avenues of income. For instance, the growing use of social platforms such as Instagram, Telegram, YouTube, and Google are used by criminals and scammers to deceive individuals into disclosing the camouflaged secrets, and bank cards that are related to their entrepreneurial projects. Because of this, more individuals are becoming dependent on the way social media influences them, leading them to negative behavior and traits, as individuals may imitate seeing them as idols they see glamorized only. While social media is a choice once many communicate, it does offer negative options to foster negative behavior and the complexity of crime’s control in today’s modern-day society.
To wrap up, even though some think that this way allows them to put their mind to the rest of prevention, I implore them to be an ominous success of coming into view of crime from population rise, the internet and chance of using mass media at ease.
