There is a debate over who bears the responsibility for environmental protection, with some arguing that the government should take the lead, while others believe that individual actions play a more crucial role. In my view, this duty lies primarily with the government, as it possesses greater financial and authoritative power.
Some people believe that environmental initiatives, when taken individually, foster a bond of unity and serve as a catalyst for broader efforts to protect the nature. Take, for instance, environmental events like “a day without trash,” where cultural awareness reaches its peak, with people encouraging one another not just through words but with wise actions to inspire others to do the same. In this context, several benefits emerge from individual actions.
Such a practice, however, can result in unexpected circumstances and increase the risk of social conflict. Sometimes, people put their lives at risk with the purpose of seeking out solutions for the environmental cleanliness. They visit unknown places where they have never been before and get lost despite having good intentions.
Therefore, I lean towards government intervention. In my opinion, the authorities can do a better job when it comes to environmental protection by funding and supporting educational programs that raise awareness about environmental issues and promote sustainable practices among citizens. Additionally, enforcing environmental laws and regulations, which can be established by only the government, can have a greater impact than individual actions.
In conclusion, individualized actions may sometimes play a role in keeping the nature healthy as they are a better way for uniting people. Despite this, I view this in a negative light as such events may lead to unexpected situations. So, the government should opt for protecting the environment with its better actions instead.
