Many cities around the world are becoming more crowded because their populations are increasing. To solve this problem, some cities build taller buildings, while others expand by using wider areas of land. In my opinion, building taller buildings is a better solution for large cities.
One reason is that tall buildings can save space. In big cities, land is often limited and very expensive. If cities continue to expand outward, they may use farmland or green areas. Building upwards allows more people to live in the same place without using more land. This can help cities manage their population more effectively.
Another reason is related to transportation. When people live in tall buildings near the city centre, they are closer to their workplaces, schools and shops. This means they do not need to travel long distances every day. As a result, traffic congestion and pollution can be reduced. However, if a city spreads over a wide area, people usually need cars or public transport to travel longer distances, which can create more traffic problems.
On the other hand, expanding over wider land may provide more open spaces and larger houses. Some people may prefer this lifestyle because it feels quieter and less crowded. However, this method can be expensive for the government, as it requires building roads and other services in a larger area.
In conclusion, although both methods have advantages, I believe that constructing taller buildings is more suitable for cities with large populations.
