In recent years, there is an increasing rate of crime in some countries. Many people argue that the only way to prevent this trend is to set more police on the streets. However, in my opinion, there are other mesaures to resolve this issue.
On the one hand, having a lot of police workers everywhere could be beneficial for reducing the number of crimes to some extend. Robbers, lawbreakers, and offenders may be afraid of being caught, and avoid frequent plans to commit a crime. However, this popularity cannot fully prevent all types of crimes. Sometimes the problem is even deeper than a desire to get money and jeweleries. The police officers can only decrease the number of petty crimes.
In order to stop crimes in global understanding there must be a cooperation of psychologists, parents, schools, and other educational institutions. For example, in schools there should be psychologists to communucate with children and to learn more about their mental well-being, as a lot of people become criminals due to traumas and abuse they experienced in childhood and during their teenage years. Moreover, parents and teachers should pay more attention on moral values and teach children from younger ages. One more effective way of reducing the number of petty crimes without police, is imposting heavy fines.
In conclusion, although police workers can reduce the number of minor offences, they cannot fully stop crimes. The most effective measure is to educate children from younger ages, and to take care of their mental health.
