Band 6+: Some countries have legal ages at which people can drink. Other countries believe that not having strict laws is a better policy. Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Whether restricting drinking for people who are under or above certain legal ages has instigated a controversy. Some are of the standpoint that having legal ages is necessary, whilst others are in favor of the devoid of tough regulations against drinking. In the following paragraphs, I will comprehensively analyze both sides.

On the one hand, it is believed that having tough regulations against the certain ages at which people cannot drink any beverages containing alcohol often prevents the overall well-being of society from being infected by various mental and physical illnesses. To be more precise, drinking too much amount of alcohol among the youngsters could eventually lead them to make drinking their lifelong habit. That said, they are not mature enough to understand the consequences if they do not drink within limits. Hence, it is necessary to give people rights only after certain ages when they can actually keep their drinking limits under control.

On the other hand, others suggest that adolescents should not be kept far away from alcohol. To elaborate, it is needed just to enjoy the day-off and spend time well with family and friends. As long as nobody gets addicted to it and consumes within certain amount without spoiling their career as well as their health, then there is no room nor an excuse to complain about it. For example, consuming one or two drinks such as beer that contains less percentage of alcohol under parental supervision is suggested.

In conclusion, although some suggest every nation should have tough laws to restrict drinking among teenagers, others do not share their view and claim it is acceptable to allow every citizen to drink and consume alcohol.
