The question of whether people should take an annual break from technology and gadgets for a week is highly debated. While this approach helps in improving mental health of the workers, I believe in modern era, the use of technology is inevitable and this development will hinder the business growth.
Proponents of the view that people should take a break from work and digital tools to freshen up their minds contend that humans are not machine, and they require a time-off to unwind once in an year. The concept of annual leaves in corporate world supports this idea. For example, many people in the European countries plan holidays atleast twice in the year and travel to remote areas where they avoid using gadgets. On breaking monotonous routine, the significant improvements have been observerd in their physical and mental health. Therefore, companies and individuals encourages people to take necessary time-off to relax, which eventually improves their productivity.
Acknowledging that taking a digital detox week have it’s positive outcomes such as improved mental health, in my opinion, the use of technology nowadays crucial to connect with the world, even when you are on holidays. The advent of remote work in recent years has made life much easier for both employees and employers. Without the expense of businesses requirements, people can support the businesses for pressing matters. This flexibility can serve both purposes, including holidays for undwinding without compromising on the work.
In conclusion, although digital devices can have adverse effect on individual’s mental health, in my point of view, the use of technology is crucial nowadays for people to connect with outside world even when they are on holidays. If people were to prioritize productivity and mental state, they would need to strike a balance between both approaches for favourable outcomes.
