Nowadays, people are divided into two groups. One group wants governments to spend money on research into life on other planets. Others, on the other hand, think that governments should spend money on more important real-life problems that need to be solved right now. I think both views can coexist in the future, and any opinion can be understood these days.
On the one side, governments want to invest a great amount of money in researching other planets and life on them. Reinforcing and expanding our knowledge about different unknown species is an important step in human evolution. It is clear that the future of our planet is not totally stable; that is why governments need to have a clear vision of any other non-human beings and the possibility of living on other planets. On the other hand, the abilities of our astronomy equipment are not profound, but the meaning of this investigation has a pivotal role now and in the future. This fact is testified by the level of improvement in space studies, equipment, and knowledge.
On the other hand, people think that government plans are ridiculous and that the money used for them is robbery from the public. This statement can make sense because, nowadays, all people around the world can be threatened and feel disrespected by other people. It is obvious that people cannot simply overcome all the cons of modern life. In addition, approximately one-third of our planet’s population is suffering from famine, so these people are expecting support from governments.
In conclusion, I want to emphasize that the knowledge gained from space research is equally important as addressing people’s real-life problems, such as famine. I cannot choose between these two topics; which is more profound, which is less important nowadays. In my opinion, these two aspects cannot be compared; they just need to be perfectly balanced in order to be useful.
