Some parents think that children’s leisure activities should always be educational, while others believe that this condition might put pressure on children. While the first opinion has some advantages, such as less wasting time, better doing exercise, and being smarter than other children, I believe that if children’s free time were only educational, it could be high-pressure, especially for preschool students.
On the one hand, some parents argue that children’s leisure time should always be educational, and we have to supervise their pursuit. This is because there is a large number of things that may distract children or have a negative impact on them. For example, various video games, bad friends, negative role models, consumerism, and unsafe environments. Such negative influences can be really harmful for children. Consequently, many parents think that children’s leisure time should always be educational in order to mitigate these negative factors. Moreover, they believe that if their children spend more time on education, in the future they will be more successful. For instance, my parents also always ask me, “What are you doing?” and “You have to study more,” and similar sentences. In other words, I have strict parental supervision. Therefore, it is understandable why some people hold this view.
On the other hand, others are of the opinion that making children’s leisure time entirely educational puts pressure on children, which I agree with. The main reason is that such excessive pressure can impact negatively. To illustrate, children are starting to hate education. Another point worth mentioning is that this level of strict control may isolate children from their social environment, and they struggle to communicate with their peers. This kind of environment can be highly detrimental to children’s mental well-being. I believe children should engage in various activities they are interested in. That way, children can enjoy their free time and develop their social skills.
In conclusion, although some people support the view that children’s leisure time should always be educational, I remain convinced that this level of strict control is not a good idea because it doesn’t bring more benefit to children. Every person should carefully consider both opinions before making a decision.
