Over the last few years, it has become more common for children to read books. However, some parents think that it is a waste of time if we allow children to read entertainment books. I disagree with this viewpoint, and in this essay, I will support my opinion with examples.
Firstly, some comic books could be educative. Nowadays, most comic aurthors often try to add an educational aspect in their books, so that readers, especially young ones, may have a chance of learning something new about the society at the end of each book. Take, for instance, the book Romeo and Julliette. Though it is an entertaining book, it teaches the readers peseverence, love, and kindness.
Another reason why I disagree that youths should only read educational books is that it becomes boring and tiring in a long-run. A perfect example of this is children studying sciences at school. Most lack literature books, usually, they concentrate on subjects like physics, chemistry, and mathematics for upto 3 years, and at the end of the academic year, some parents still force their children to read just the above subjects. This behavior often cause burnout for some children, leading to poor academic performances.
On the other hand, there is an argument that entertainment books are sometimes addictive and time consuming, and so letting children read them may waste their time dedicated for education. For example, if a child starts reading the spiderman comic book, which is full of action and nice drawing, he may become addicted to it and forgets about his studies.
To sum up, it is clear that more and more children are reading entertainment books. In my opinion, I believe that this type of book usually has some social values to be transmitted and could be a good way for children to relax during their holidays.
