Education plays a crucial role in students future life and is a way for nurturing children. While some parents discuss that children ought to focus on educational activities during their free time, others believe that this causes pressure on children.
On the one hand, children spending their leisure time with education-based works has positive aspects on improvement. Filling free time with school work is a way for students to develop their knowledge and practice their skills. For instance, in Turkey classes include almost 20 students and it is difficult for the teacher to focus on each student in each class and cover the details of the topic by answering all students questions. So, it is the student’s responsibility to explore their own way of understanding. In other words, free time is an opportunity for students to see their challanges, go in depth with the subject, and build a personalized approach. As a result, doing educational activities outside the classroom helps students realize their weaknesses and enhance their skills.
On the other hand, using free time to do academic activities has drawbacks on young people. Focusing too much on academical improvement even in leisure time may lead students to feel overwhelmed. To exemplify, after attending to lessons for seven hour and coming back home only to see those topics again and answer similar questions may feel frustrating for students. Repeating the same tasks and not sparing some time for personal stuff lead students to be pressured. Moreover, spending too much time on thinking about lessons may affect their wellbeing and create a fear of failing. In conclusion, constant exposure to academic work causes children to be overwhelmed by repetitive work.
To conclude, spending leisure time by doing school activities is a way of boosting horizons, whereas focusing too much may affect students’ mental health. Therefore, students should maintain a healthy work-life balance.
