Having a high income is believed to be of immense importance as money opens many doors for people. At the same time, others tend to prioritize job satisfaction over the amount of money they make. As for me, deriving joy from one’s job matters more, for a number of reasons.
Admittedly, we all live in a predominantly capitalistic world, not in a utopian ‘Barbieland.’ Therefore, it is logical that many people are preoccupied with their salaries and financial stability. Indeed, if one earns a lot, they are likely to lead a comfortable lifestyle, as they need not worry about trivial matters such as making ends meet, paying utility bills, or finding affordable grocery stores. Additionally, earning a substantial income may enable an individual to afford luxuries, which can enhance their contentment with life. Reportedly, travelling is an activity known to broaden people’s minds and increase happiness; however, this necessitates sufficient funds, particularly for safe and comfortable travel.
However, some argue that while money is important, it cannot buy everything or compensate for all inconveniences, a perspective I largely support. On average, individuals spend a significant portion of their time working, excluding sleep. Thus, it might seem illogical to persistently endure and suffer in a highly-paid position solely to afford occasional luxuries like expensive restaurants or cruises, assuming one has the time to spare for such indulgences. Moreover, a key aspect of achieving success is productivity and enthusiasm, which may wane over time in a job or business one dislikes, leading to professional burnout. Consequently, most individuals will eventually be forced to seek roles that genuinely resonate with their passions, allowing them to fully dedicate themselves.
In conclusion, many may contend that holding a financially prestigious position or running a profitable business may well imply having a comfortable and even sometimes carefree life. However, such views are reasonably opposed by others due to several significant factors, and I am rather inclined to agree with the opposition in this matter.
